3 mistakes that keep you from loving your business

2/28/2019

“Build a life and business you love” is something you hear a lot in the world of online entrepreneurship, but how you actually do it remains elusive to far too many of us. So often we focus on the “building” part because there are a lot of ways you can keep yourself busy, there are a lot of strategies you can try, but if you HATE doing them you’re going to be miserable!

Ultimately we need to stay focused on that FEELING of LOVE if we want to BUILD it!

Creating a business and life that you love has so much more to do with the way you FEEL while you’re in action, than it does with the actual actions you take.

This month in the Writerpreneurs Facebook Group I've been training on HOW TO FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR BUSINESS and outlining the key actions and beliefs I've found are the foundations for building a life and business to fall completely head over heels for.

Today in my Part 3 LIVE training, I covered the Top 3 mistakes that keep you from loving your business (and how to correct them). Watch and learn...

  • The common mistake that will keep you feeling insecure and unable to take consistent action (and what to do instead)
  • The mistake you may be making if you’re taking tons of actions but getting zero results (and what actions actually produce results)
  • The big mistake that causes many new solopreneurs to quit their businesses before they ever really start (and what virtue will keep you committed for the long game)

Can you feel the LOVE?

2/22/2019

Nothing feels better than getting a yes to YOU. And that’s what happens when you show up as who you truly are doing work you really love (and were put on this earth to do) in your business. The people who buy into you—whether they buy your book or hire you for your writing or coaching services—are choosing YOU!

I want you to fall so in love with your work that there's nothing else you could see yourself doing (and I also want you to believe you're worthy of getting paid well to do it, too!).

💗🔥Because the world needs more women who are on fire and IN LOVE with their lives (because we can't help but spread all of that love and positivity everywhere we go!)💗🔥

That's why this month in the Writerpreneurs Facebook Group I've been training on HOW TO FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR BUSINESS and outlining the key actions and beliefs I've found are the foundations for building a life and business to fall completely head over heels for.

Yesterday in the Part 2 LIVE training, I covered...

  • Why we have unexplained periods of drought and times when it feels like it's literally "raining opportunities"
  • The #1 reason big-hearted gals give up (on love and business)
  • 2 things that are REQUIRED if you want a healthy, loving relationship with your business
  • The ONE thing you MUST DO to find lasting love in your life and business

How to fall in love (with your business)

2/15/2019

It’s February, and you know what that means: We’re buying cards and balloons and heart-shaped candies and talking about L-O-V-E. But after February 14 comes and goes, when it comes to the way we’re spending the majority of our waking hours, how often are we really feeling the love, especially when it comes to our work?

Recently I had the epiphany that the exact same limiting beliefs and fears that had previously kept me from falling in love as a single gal also came up while I was building my writing career and coaching business. And it turns out that the same shifts in my beliefs and actions that led to me finding love were the same shifts I needed to make in order to fall deeply in love with my work.

In this 2-part Training Series (only in the Writerpreneurs Facebook Group) I’m going to share with you what those exact shifts were and how to apply them in your own life and biz.

Watch Part 1 now to learn…
  • Why clearing space in your life is critical for getting more of what you desire
  • The biggest thing you have to clear from your life in order to step into the future you’ve been dreaming of
  • The 2 things you need to get super clear about in order to attract your dream clients and opportunities
Attract your dream clients training
AND...
  • The one shift that will manifest more love and joy into your life (and business) PRONTO #GAMECHANGER

I hope you enjoy watching this training as much as I've enjoyed creating it.

Here's wishing you allllll the love,
Kristina

To MFA or NOT to MFA

2/6/2019

It's the $100k question (literally). If you've ever considered going back to school to get a Masters of Fine Arts degree, I recorded this free LIVE training in the Writerpreneurs Facebook group for you.

In this training I share my honest thoughts and opinions about the pros and cons of attending an MFA program (in my experience) so you can make the best, most informed decision for you.

Hear my thoughts on...
-The benefits I received from my MFA (as well as the cost)
-Who I feel really gets the most out of the investment in an MFA program (and who doesn't)
-Why I didn't write nearly as much as I thought I would in grad school (and what I did instead)
-What are your alternatives to an MFA that could potential give you the same results (for waaaay less money)

Please check out the video if you've thought about going back to school, and always feel free to ask any questions of your own in the group. In case you’re not already a member, join us in the group and you'll get instant access to the video.

I'm always here to support you in any way I can,

What actions moved my business forward in 2018

1/25/2019

Yesterday I shared the 3 step process for building a ROCK SOLID foundation (and serious momentum) for your writing platform and/or service-based business in the Writerpreneurs Facebook Group.

I use these foundational principles in my own business and it’s the core of the work I do with my 1:1 coaching clients.

In case you’re not in the group, or haven’t caught the replay, you can join us in the Writerpreneurs Facebook group and you'll get instant access the video (it's totally free by the way).

Here’s what I covered in the training:
  • Why you should focus on CLEARING blocks and limiting beliefs before you do anything else (and why you may not be seeing results from your efforts yet)
  • Why CREATING is essential if you’re going to monetize your gifts, and how to set yourself up for success
  • How genuinely CONNECTING is still the most important thing you’ll ever do in business (regardless of what current internet marketing trends tell you)
  • My weekly to-do list that keeps my business in momentum (without me having to work 24/7)
How to monetize your gifts

If it’s your dream to make a living from your message, I really shared my heart on this one so I hope you take some time to check it out.

And always feel free to ask a
ny questions of your own in the group (or just hit reply to this email and ask away)!

I'm always here to support you and cheer you on,

How to keep momentum (even when you're sick)

1/11/2019

This is NOT how I thought my first week of 2019 was going to go. I came into this year with incredible momentum, a solid plan, and WHAM! I got hit with something that’s knocked me out of commission for the past 6 days.

Of course it’s a little funny that my word of the year is "consistency" and here I find myself feeling challenged the first "real" week of the year to maintain it, even when I feel like the only thing I can consistently do is lay in bed.

So I had to ask myself: How can I "push" myself without killing myself this week?

Being totally honest, I’ve pushed myself when I shouldn’t have and paid the price for it many times over. But I like to believe I’m older and wiser now so as I’m sitting here reflecting on how I can "push myself" (aka, not lose momentum and honor my commitment to consistency this year) while also honoring my body and the TLC it needs right now, I thought I’d share how I’m approaching this question in case you’re finding yourself in a similar space.

I asked myself "What do I HAVE TO get done today (or this week) in order to not lose momentum or have any negative consequences?"

This question helped clarify one simple task I could do to make myself feel less stressed and be able to fully give myself permission to rest the remainder of the day.

(That one task is writing this, by the way.)  ;)

If you’re not at your best and are having a hard time giving yourself permission to take the rest you need:
  • Take a look at your MUST DO’s this week (and every week). These are the actions you know move your momentum forward.
  • Choose which one really needs to be done today (if it can actually wait another day or two without any negative consequences, it makes sense to wait until you feel better to do it).

I stumbled upon this quote this week and think it sums up this concept perfectly:
Abraham Hicks Quote

I’d love to hear from you: what are 3 things you want to do EVERY WEEK to move your life or business forward and how can you still achieve that, even if you’re not fully at your best?

Remember: be kind to yourself. It’s just the beginning of an amazing year and there’s still so much time for things to flow. Embrace the ebb and trust the wisdom of the process.

Love always,
Kristina

P.S. Getting clear on what specific actions really move my business forward was a game-changer for me in 2018. I'm going to be sharing what those specific actions are in the Writerpreneurs Facebook Group this month so if you haven't already, join us in the free group!

{Video} How to plan your content (and other writing tips!)

12/14/2018

Last week I did a LIVE Q&A in the Writerpreneurs Facebook group and got some awesome questions from our fabulous members! I want to first give a huge thanks to all who participated and shared their questions, it was so fun interacting with all of you and getting to know what’s on your minds at the moment.

In case you’re not in the group, or haven’t caught the replay, you can join us in the Writerpreneurs Facebook group and you'll get instant access to the video (it's totally free by the way).

Here’s what we covered in the training:
  • How to keep track of and organize ideas (even if you’re not ready to write the “whole thing” yet)
  • How I plan my monthly social media and email content and the best questions to ask yourself to make sure your message lands and feels relevant to your readers
  • How to know when something is “done” and when to stop editing
  • My favorite hack for beating writer’s block and some tips for figuring out what’s at the root of yours
  • The most likely reason why you’re procrastinating when it comes to writing (especially when you’re at an “important” point in your project)
  • Ebooks or Print Books—which one is right for your current project?
  • How to stand out from the competition, even if your topic is HOT (and other people are also talking about it)
  • When to jump on trending topics, holidays, and issues in your content, and when NOT to

If any of these are on your mind, definitely check out the video and always feel free to ask any questions of your own in the group.

Feeling grinchy

12/6/2018

Can you believe it’s already December? I love the holidays but, let’s be honest, it also can be really stressful and emotional time.

I felt the need to address an epidemic that seems to grow stronger and more vicious during the winter months. I’m not talking about the flu, though I’d argue the effects are just as detrimental on the health of women around the globe.

I’m talking about the spirit Grinch that turns so many of us from Ms. Holly Jolly to Ho-Ho-Horrible over the holidays—GUILT.

Though the struggle is real all year long, it comes to an ugly head as obligations and expectations soar during the “happiest time of the year.”

Here are some ideas for how to bring a little more comfort & joy (and way less guilt) to your holiday season:

If you’re not into cooking:
  • Start a tradition of going out to dinner, ordering food from a favorite restaurant, or suggest a potluck so everyone only has to bring one thing (and yes, your thing can be store bought!)
To avoid hours of clean up:
  • Use disposable plates and utensils for the few days out of the year where the dishes tend to pile higher than the presents
To avoid stressful hours of shopping or endless spending:
  • Ask family members to create and send you their online Wish List so you don’t have to guess or spend your precious time searching for the perfect present at a retail store (if you don’t enjoy that)
  • Suggest a Secret Santa or White Elephant gift exchange with a spending limit for all adults
If you’re stressed about sending holiday cards:
  • Be a rebel and send a card during the time of the year that’s best for you. It will be even more fun for everyone to receive because it’s unexpected. Gretchen Rubin, writer & happiness researcher, says she sends Valentine’s Day cards instead of holiday cards. Such a great idea!
Guiltless Holiday Season
Last but not least:
Say NO to anything optional that doesn’t bring you joy.
Yes, that may include disappointing some people and that’s okay. You matter, too.

You may love cooking, decorating, and shopping on top of everything else you do—you may be in the camp that finds it therapeutic. But if you don’t, you shouldn’t feel guilty about it.

Ditch the guilt and your holiday to-do list (and attitude) will suddenly look a whole lot nicer.

Are you doing the REAL work?

11/20/2018

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really takes to build a career around what you love. There are so many different paths out there that promise instant success that sometimes it makes this whole entrepreneurial thing feel so confusing.

But I’ve learned a few things in my journey as a professional writer and coach and here’s what I believe is THE MOST important lesson I’ve learned:

The REAL work of successful entrepreneurship (and I’d say a fulfilled life in general) is: LETTING YOURSELF BE SEEN.

It’s the real work because it’s the scariest part. It’s the real work because it requires us to be vulnerable and show up and share ourselves with the world, with no guarantees of how the world will respond.

It’s also the real work because it’s what’s required in order for us to earn the confidence that comes from DOING the DO. The kind of confidence that’s irresistible: Magnetic Confidence, the kind that attracts money and opportunities.

The problem is: Most aspiring creatives and entrepreneurs want to feel confident before they begin, so they never TRULY begin.

In my latest LIVE video in the Writerpreneurs Facebook Group I really dive into this and more.

Watch and learn...
  • The ultimate catch-22 creative entrepreneurs fall into (and how it leads to feeling stuck)
  • Why working harder can sometimes NOT get you anywhere and what you need to do instead
  • How “flirting with the future” helps you attract what you want NOW (even if you don’t feel confident yet)
Visibility as a life coach

This is honestly one of my favorite videos I ever recorded. Please take the time to watch it if you’re feeling stuck or need some inspiration for doing the REAL work.

Love always,
Kristina

It's not about the money...but it is

11/13/2018

“The truth is: If I can’t make money at this, I don’t get to keep doing it.”

My friend and bestselling author Rachel Starr Thomson wrote about having this realization in her upcoming book Left Turn to the Promised Landand I couldn’t relate more.

Mission-driven writers and entrepreneurs often feel the need to help others so badly that we lose sight of the fact that if we don’t have boundaries, if we don’t act like a business and charge for our expertise and services, the price is eventually NOT getting to do the work at all (or way less of it) because we have to find another way to make money.

You may love what you do so much you’d do it for free. (If that’s true, then you’re one of the lucky ones!) But that doesn’t mean you SHOULD.

Because the truth is...money helps us reach and impact MORE people.

  • Non-profits without donors have to shut their doors.
  • Churches who don’t get contributions from their congregations don’t get to keep existing.

It’s not about the money, but also, it kind of is.

When you start to see your ability to make money doing what you love as a way to continue helping people with your time and talents (and as a way to reverse the unfortunate belief that we should only be paid for things we don’t like doing) I promise you, attracting more money into your life will suddenly become a lot easier.

Love always,
Kristina
